The History of MorecambeMorecambe was created in 1889 when the three villages of Bare, Poulton-le-Sands and Torrisholme united and became known as Morecambe. Morecambe became best known as a traditional UK seaside town in the mid-twentieth century with most of it's visitors coming from Yorkshire and Scotland, and between 1956 and 1989 it was the even home to the Miss Great Britain beauty contest. In more recent years Morcmabe fell into decline but is now an up and coming town, with house prices rising and a great deal of investment, regeneration and development in the area. |
